  1. I noticed that a significant percentage of the votes agreed with the demilitarisation of the army on both sides, leading to the gradual dissolution of the army as a whole. Well, that’s a bit extreme don’t you think? Every soveriegn state in the world requires some military capacity/institution. Just because people don’t agree with the militarization system, doesn’t mean it ought to eradicated as a whole. Although you may not agree with the objectives/agenda of the Cypriot army, it doesn’t mean that it’s entirely useless. Would you much rather have a defenceless nation?

  2. Nothing could make Cyprus safer than demilitarisation. Imagine no armies, no soldiers, no guns on both sides, and not even united nations. What makes the threat of war alive is the reality that there are armies and guns on two sides which are just metres apart from each other. Cypriot people (from both sides) should demand the demilitarization as that would allow them to live in real peace.
